Colinton is a village-feel suburb on the Water of Leith with narrow, steep roads that challenge learners in all the right ways. Bridge Road and the lanes down to the village need good clutch control, hill-start confidence and careful meeting-traffic judgement.
Colinton Road carries steady traffic to and from the city, so bus and junction practice are close at hand, and the Pentland Hills side brings rural-style bends and speed-limit changes. The Currie test centre is a short drive away.
Currie is nearby and is the usual choice for Colinton learners.
Learners in Colinton usually take their test at Currie. Here is how it compares on DVSA's latest published figures:
Pass rate: car tests, April 2025 to March 2026. Median wait: September 2026. Source: DVSA (DRT122A, DRT122F), Open Government Licence v3.0. How to read these figures →
